Equine assisted learning

Equine Assisted Learning (EAL) is a method of learning and personal development that uses horses as active participants in a learning experience, often involving ground-based activities

Equine assisted learning allows the learners the opportunity to grow and work through chosen goals or situations. It can help individuals to develop leadership, problem-solving, and teamwork skills, which are essential in everyday life.

We believe that learning to care for a horse’s emotional and physical wellbeing independently is a vital part of our equine assisted learning sessions. It’s not just about the relationship between humans and animals, it’s about building confidence, promoting emotional growth, and nurturing mental resilience.

When our learners take on the responsibility of caring for a pony, they’re empowered to develop trust, patience, and self-belief. These moments of success and responsibility create lasting social and emotional benefits that extend far beyond our sessions.

As they care for the ponies, they realise they are trusted with a life, and that trust is returned in the form of confidence and growth. This newfound strength doesn’t stay within our sessions – it helps them face challenges in everyday life with a renewed sense of self.

Equine assisted learning isn’t just about horses – it’s about building a foundation of self-love, emotional resilience, and confidence that our learners can carry with them wherever they go.

🌻All our equine assisted learning sessions are suitable for children, young people of adults with additional needs.

Our equine assisted learning sessions are run in groups of up to six and as individual sessions.

We also work with schools and alternative provision providers to run group sessions for small groups of six during the school hours.
